I found a spike tactical AR with holographic sight, foregrip and I think Im saying this right, picatinee muzzle area.... and crane stock. They want 1500 and its slightly used, oh its a 5.56. Just wondering if this is a typical price or not. Thanks for any advice, and sorry if I misnamed anything. Im brand new to the community.

What holo is on it? You may be able to build your own for that price. Is the upper a Spikes as well? Get more specs on it if you can then we can better judge the price.

first of all Welcome to calguns second :useless: :D my $0.02 that AR is over price for a use rifle sounds like they want what they pay for -$100, what brand is the holographic sight? maybe that will explain the high price for it.

My 2c - do some more research before jumping into anything.

The make and model of the holographic sight, what I'm assuming is a quad rail and the upper itself will have a huge impact on the price.

My advice get a rock river arms ar-15 i recently bought a elite operator 2 and it is amazing. brand new you would be looking at $950-$1050 depending where you got it from cheap and absolutely reliable! if you want an AR build it yourself dont buy someone else they built. make it to your liking!

Not a good deal at all. Unless its a Trijicon ACOG (which sell for 1,000 dollars alone) its a ripoff. You could build a Spikes AR for a lot less money and still have 500-600 for a nice optic.

Go here and compare prices. Remember these are MSRP prices and things never go for MSRP. Its usually a lot cheaper than what the prices say on the site.

Id like to reccomend a s&w mp15 sport. It shoots ALL ammo including steel costs about 600 and is customizable.

You could have a brand new Colt and a holographic sight for that much, so that rifle is way overpriced. Spikes are mid-quality at best. If you want to spend that much on just the gun, look at Bravo Company, Daniel Defense or a Skinny MOE Noveske. Any of those are 10x the rifle compared to Spikes.

A great choice as well!

If it includes mags and ammo... Maybe a decent deal.

If the sight is an aimpoint or eotech XPS, and it's a LMT Sopmod stock. Then personally I think it's a decent deal.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I am curious about what else is out there as far as deals on a AR, I dont mind buying online, but since Im new to the whole process I dont know how the online buying process works? can anyone explain? I really would like to strart with a quality base AR and add my attachments and what not from there. I saw This AR at the gun vault in mountain view, ca. It was the cheapest AR they had on hand, because I said I was lookng to spend max $1000. but if I can get one for way less, I will def go with that.

just buy your upper online http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/AR-15-16-Mid-Length-Group-s/27.htm and find a dealer near you to buy the lower receiver.

Agreed, Like my previous post said, components can make a huge difference. My upper alone is over $1500 with optics.

Seconding this, or jump up to a bare bones Spike's. You probably won't want a ton of bells and whistles to start with, and you can always add them later when they seem appropriate.
