I've been looking at pics and vids of the uts-15.

Is that thing for reals? I don't know whether to laugh at it, or cry for wanting it.

That thing is the most uncomfortable looking gun I've seen in a while.

Looks okay to me - it's probably very well balanced and it's tough to beat 15 rounds in that compact of a package (meaning, no donkey dong hanging down.) Unfortunately, not good to go in CA. The switch allows simultaneous feeding from both 7-round tubes (alternating) so technically, it's hi-cap!

Pictures are fun!

All you would need to do is stick a 2 round plug in each tube.

Want to bet how quick we see one in CA? All it takes is a guy who wants one bad enough.

Looks kind of heavy to me...

The kel tec KSG has the same capacity but is a pump action and is legal in CA, so just because this gun operates in semi auto it is illegal in CA?

It's not semi-auto, it's a pump. The problem is the fact that the "magazine selector switch" (for lack of a better term) on this one allows rounds to be fed from both tubes intermittently which makes the two tubes basically become one large, hi-cap mag. The KSG only feeds from one tube at a time with the flick of the switch, with makes it the tube-fed shotgun equivalent to two AR magazines taped together (completely legal.)

For those of you interested, I just received a reply from UTAS:

Dear Steve:

Thanks for your inquiry regarding the UTS-15 and California compliance.
The California DOJ regulations are very clear regarding shotguns. These
regs state that a pump action shotgun without a rotary magazine or other
magazine capable of holding 10 rounds is California compliant. These
regulations specifically name the Street Sweeper, Laws 12 and Striker 12 as
being non-compliant. There are more strict regulations applying to
autoloading shotguns, but the pump action situation is pretty clear. We
have contacted the California Department of Justice and they report that
they have made no ruling on shotguns with dual magazines of 7 rounds. They
go on to say that while they have not declared such shotguns as being
non-compliant, they are leaving that up to local jurisdictions, presumably
county attorneys and local law enforcement. We would suggest that you check
with your local authorities and get a reading from them. We would also
appreciate you sharing any information that you think might be useful to us
and to other California customers.

In summary, the State of California DOJ has not said that the UTS-15 is
not non-compliant but perhaps local authorities might have a different view.

Thanks for contacting us.

Standard issue CA DOJ BOF answer.

Let the 58 DA's decide. If one thinks it's illegal, then it's illegal. But, they won't decide on it until after someone gets arrested for having it.

Stupid state, what a moronic way of treating law abiding citizens.

Are these things even available? Where? I'd buy one and stuff the tubes until everyone makes up their mind. They would have to ban it by name and if you allready have it... They can get to kissing your *****... It's allready in 10 round complaint condition... If they determine it's all good, yank the stuffers out.
and it's bad *** and want one.:11:

Fondled one of these today at the gun show and it is bad arse!! Light weight, solid construction, and feels uber comfortable on the shoulder. Never held a KSG so I can't compare but, on it's own merits, the UTS makes a very good first impression!
