I'm thinking of buying a 7.62x39 upper from RedXArms.
Anybody have any luck with these guys?
Anybody shoot 7.62x39 ammo?
I'm just looking for something with a little more hit than a .223
Trying to get your thoughts before I make the purchase.
Thanks

Shooting a model one 20" with free float tube flat top with nikon 3x9, shoots 1.5-1.75 MOA with yugo ball. no problems with pmag 7.62x39mm 10 round SSTL mags

Cool. Not sure what you mean by pmag 7.62x39 SSTL Mags?? I didn't think magpul made a pmag in this caliber? 10 round SSTL mags from ASC?

for the price of a upper, why not get a sks? cheaper and it wont give you problems.

I have a lower from tactical machining that is stamped 7.62 x 39. Thought I'd build it out. I didn't realize there were issues with the 7.62 uppers.

My brother has a 7.62x39 upper and it has nothing but problems, alot of FTE and FTF with both Russian and American made rounds. It may have been a lemon, but who knows.. I'd rather get a Saiga/AK or SKS.

Keep the 7.62 for commie weapon imo. If you want more punch go with a 50 BMG :)

I have a Colt Sporter x39 upper. Made for a great shooter.
There are a zillion threads on x39 uppers...

This. I got all excited then went and checked magpuls website.

I have a 762 upper and it runs fine. Don't know what brand it is. I shoot mostly brass cases ammo out of it.

These uppers run fine with good ammo and few tweaks " firing pin." They have some recoil so keep that in mind when pick some items.

I have one, no problems yet. I would suggest doing research on the company you are buying from to see how others have liked their goods... Check out Model 1 Sales or Galati Intl.

I second the sentiment expressed above. Leave 7.62 Soviet round to guns designed for it (almost all of which have a distinguished combat service history).

If you want more kick than what the .223 offers, you can't really go wrong with a .308/7.62 NATO. As to the choice of a gun, it's up to you.
