Has anyone used any Adam Arms weapons before? I am looking to build an AR pistol soon and I was looking at this 7.5" Adams Arms 5.56 PDW Tactical Elite upper. I haven't seen many reviews on particular upper. I also found this item for $859 online which seems like a great deal.

Any insight is greatly appreciated

I dont have the shorter upper you mentioned, but I do have a 16" 5.56 Adams Arms upper. I think that they are an excellent value for a gas piston upper. If you do a search here you will find that most everyone else also thinks highly of their particular AA uppers. E.g. -> http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=556840&highlight=adams+arms.

NOTE: I was on MidwayUSA the other day and for the same upper I bought 1 year ago, the most recent threads about AA have been negative. It appears that some people got a bad batch and were complaining about AA's quality control has gone down hill.

elitetacticalcomponents.com sells many AA uppers and I see they are selling the the 7.5" PDW Tactical Elite upper for $824.99 (http://www.elitetacticalcomponents.com/ua-7-5-p-te-556) but they are currently out of stock. I have found their staff to be friendly and responsive.

thanks guys.

I hope I make the right decision and not cutting any ends when it comes to a good pistol upper.

I wish I could give you some points on the shorter 7.5" but I'm using the 16" carbine 556 model myself...it's been flawless so far but I'm still under 1000 rounds (milspec buffer tube and standard buffer on a Double Star lower) down the pipe.

I did read quite a few threads before my purchase and the ones that recently came out with quality issues were the ones that were using set/hex screws to keep the gas block down...I believed the pinned gas blocks were made in conjunction with dimpled barrels so as to completely minimize the possibility that the gas block would move (which was happening quite a bit with the hex/set screw setup). I'm drawing this negative QA info from the AA Elite Tactical thread here on CG, it's either in General or the Centerfire forum.
