Chicagoan Otis McDonald, the lead plaintiff in a landmark U.S. Supreme Court case on gun rights, will speak on concealed carry laws at 7 p.m. May 17 at the local NAACP office, 101 S. MacArthur Hwy.

In McDonald vs. Chicago, the Supreme Court ruled that individual right to keep and bear arms applies to the states, upending Chicago's strict ban on handguns, and energizing the gun-rights, including concealed carry, movements.More here (http://www.pjstar.com/news/x775168360/Gun-rights-advocate-to-address-NAACP)

Wanna bet he'll be yelled at and called "Oreo" and "Uncle Tom of the Gun Lobby"?

It would be great if he expounded on the original racist intent of many firearms laws. Might actually open some eyes.

I'd not underestimate Mr. McDonald and his ability to handle the audience. And it counts for something that he was actually invited to speak.

McDonald seems like an odd guest for that organization. For too long urban blacks have been seen as helpless victims. I like where this could go.

I do too, nicki. It is WAY past time for a sensible black person to explain the the simple, plain, unspun truth. And stand his ground during the predictable hits.

The Second Amendment Foundation did all the heavy lifting on this case, the NRA just went along for the ride.
