...and pretty good PR I might add. Lets the local LEO's know who's doing the cleaning and not the littering.

On That Note :::::

Actually , I was given the idea by the LOE Ranger that Patrols that area
And is Very supportive .

She has seen all the hard work the Cal-Gun Volunteers have been doing to help keep this place open and clean

Last Sunday was the 4th 'Canyon Clean-up ' I've had out there / It's making a differance

" You guys need to put up some kind of sign in the area you clean-up "

So ...I ran with it .............

OH! Well okay, that cool then. It makes people realize they are not the only people who shoot there.

When they get tore up or tattered I am sure they will be cleaned up and replaced.

The US Forest Service office in our area is very supportive twards people that make an effort like this. Last year they gave me permission to put up signs to try and keep people from shooting the big pine trees in my area.

The signs look good Ron... Great Job!!!, I will kick in $40 to help you with the cost of these or to make more for the next canyons we clean.

Well she'd be the one to let you know if there's an issue so go with it. Very professional sign and awesome to have the forest service support.

Looks awesome, my only concern is the misappropriation of the sign as a target backer...

Worse than that ...................

I went out late in the day yesterday and one was gone
Stand and all............................
I'm going out today with a replacement .........................................

Well the ranger would be the most likely to take issue right? If they are ok with it, better yet even suggested it, then run with it. Why would you rain on somebody's parade? Sounds like the Forest Service, who may not have the means themselves, is allowing it for a job well done.

No problem! I appreciate what your group is doing. I use the canyon myself - mostly riding my dirtbike but sometimes plinking - and think you deserve the recognition. Just don't understand whys some try to bring others down. The signs look Professional and respectable which is probably why forestI service doesnt object!

Now when folks look online to see what other CA gun owners are doing...
well, it makes up for the OT forum.
No, really, that makes me proud to be a Cal-gunner.

Umm Im kinda ashamed you are even from this town

If the ranger gives the ok to place signs that all that matters
their HOUSE their RULES
laws are laws but what is enforced and what isnt enforced is something totally different

Eatdirt, well done :)
those signs look great

Those signs certainly look better than grafitti on the rocks.

Did you get the blessings from the rangers before you put them up there?

Hey this could be a new trend. Selling off ADOPT-A-RANGE advertising and with a small donation of several hundred to several thousand you can get advertising on the signs because you adopted that range for that cleanup...

:\ I should look for marketing jobs now...

Excellent use of the noodle! You should be proud.

Seriously that's down right genius.

Somebody call that reporter from CBS up north and tell 'em to run an important story about how shooters are actually stewarding the environment (after they shoot their "bullet button" equipped rifles).

Good on ya! :cheers2:

Be careful handling those shot up TVs though. The CRTs might have some pretty nasty chemicals in them.

Does anybody have any connections with CR&R in Perris? They have a transfer station on Goetz Road, about a mile north of the Perris Airport.

On that point, as mentioned in a previous email discussion of this, I expect you to let me know how much these signs cost so I can reimburse you.

After all the awesome work you and the volunteers have done I don't want to see you paying for these out of your own pocket.

How much for a few signs?, I would like to get some at the Maywood Rd. Shooting area. Once it gets cleaned up. I am trying to get larger numbers of people out. But I plan to go out this week and weekend to do a little house keeping.

PM Eat Dirt or socalbowhunter about the signs, Eat Dirt had the first ones made and socalbowhunter made and donated more.

You should ask BLM first before putting them up. Eat Dirt asked USFS in his area just to make sure it was not breaking any rules. I asked USFS last year in my area about signs to keep people from shooting the trees and they were ok with it, most got used for targets though. :(

I would make sure it would be OK. I would like to attach it to the New BLM Warning sign. (photo posted in "Perris california outdoor range?" on page 5" But I think the problem out there will be people not understanding English.

Well after talking to the BLM volunteer coordinator and other staff members at BLM and then sending them links to this thread, the thread about US Forest Service giving Calguns an award for clean-up eforts, and the thread about the on going Bee Canyon clean-ups. The officials at the Palm Springs South Coast Field Office have permitted this sign to be put up at the BLM Perris shooting area.

Several people including a bunch of Calguns members have taken loads of trash from this area but there has not been an organised clean-up like this http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=606961 yet.

Even though this clean-up has not taken place yet, BLM management from this area has given permission to put up the Calguns clean up signs because of the effort that Calguns volunteers have put in at Bee Canyon.

This is now two Federal agencies that have recognized what Calguns volunteers can do.

I am sure Eat Dirt will post up some pictures of the signs being put up in a new area after next weeks clean-up.

Thank You to USFS, BLM and the Calguns volunteers that help keep places like this open.
