The call for Umbrella Control & Regulation is just around the corner.

Italian Police Detain 2 in Brutal Umbrella Slaying of Woman in Subway

Throughout the day news programs played video from surveillance cameras from Rome's Termini rail station. Newspapers ran front-page photos of the two suspects, dressed in white pants and white jackets, walking up a station staircase after the attack.

State TV and Italian news agencies reported that the two women were tracked down by police at a house in the small town of Tolentino, about 160 miles from Rome, in east central Italy. There was no answer at the Carabinieri paramilitary station in Tolentino.

The ferocity of the attack Thursday shocked the nation, where violent crime on public transport is rare.

Vanessa Russo, 22, died of wounds suffered when she was stabbed in the eye with the umbrella's tip while on her way to work. Witnesses and surveillance cameras indicated that two women were involved in the attack on the subway platform.

News reports said that police were investigating whether the victim had argued with the two women shortly before being stabbed, or had made clear that she suspected them of trying to pick her pocket.

A Rome police official, Alberto Intini, said that fingerprints found on the umbrella were fragmentary but that investigators hoped to get enough DNA traces off the umbrella to use in a prosecution.

Poor victim. May she RIP.

Why don't we ask Tonayo to give us some scientific insight into the validity of umbrella bans and there affect on reducing murder numbers in third world countries ending in the letter "Y" versus dentally challenged trailer inhabiters subsisting on recycling proceeds in the US.

Umbrella law in CA requires no pistol grip and no detachable covers. It must also be in a locked container as it is concealable!! They do however issue CCU's (Carrying Concealed Umbrellas) but not likely in a lot of counties and you must have a legitimate reason to carry one!
