I will be hiking in the Angeles National Forest this weekend. Due to the weight of my gear, I would like to carry a semiautomatic handgun. What are the current state/federal laws requiring my decision? Do I have to UOC? Can I LOC?

I have had the same question as I had UOCed while back packing in NPs. UOC is now against the law in California but once you make camp you can unpack, load up and LOC 0r LCC. Unfortunately you will not get to have the discussions with park employees that you could have in the past. This year I have decided to forgo the luxury of the properly stored pistol in my pack and UOC my long gun and grunt the addt. pounds.
