Finally finished my 38super/9mm RIA 1911 GI. It has been a trip the last two years to say the least but very fun.

A list of things I have done:

1. Conversion to 9mm with 9mm RIA barrel.
2. Maryland 3 dot sights
3. Colt arched mainspring housing
4. Colt commander hammer
5. Fusion square trigger
6. 50 LPI checkered front strap and trigger guard (feels like sandpaper :D)
7. Undercut trigger guard
8. Safari Arms grip safety and beavertailed.
9. Squared trigger guard
10. Trigger job
11. and finally refinished in brownell's Oxpho blue.

I was going for a more rustic or vintage look. I could not have found a better beater 1911 to destroy.

I remember when you posted pics of when you squared out the trigger guard. Looks good

Me like! The arched MSH & ringed hammer are very cool.;)

Very nice! A used and holstered blued 1911 just looks too cool imo. I wanna see some more pics! Lol

Thanks guys, I am glad I am done. Time to move on to the next project, I am thinking about a Colt Gold Cup or 1991 but spending a lot more time and money on it to make it more "professional."

@Fishslayer: Lol, I ordered a 25lpi checkering file but the company I ordered from sent me a 50lpi instead. I figured what the hell and tried it anyways. It isn't as neat as a 25lpi checker job would have been but it feels awesome. Kind of like grip tape or sand paper.

Definitely something you don't see every day.
