^^^^What he said

Seriously depending on the situation probably just my G19 with my IWB holster. I don't have any desire to ever be in a situation in the states where I need to go full blown mall ninja. If that day ever comes good luck folks people get really crazy when they are stressed and hungry.

Depends on what the nature of SHTF is, where I am when it kicks off, what my plan of action is to deal with it, if I am on foot or by vehicle, how far am I traveling if traveling at all, etc. It also depends on if me and my neighbors can pull together for our mutual benefit and defense.

Anything from an AK with 180 rounds loaded in quickly accessible mags, to a Glock 9mm on my hip, to my Keltec PF-9 hidden to keep a low profile, to my mossy 500 and/or a .22 for harvesting food, or I may be stuck with my Sig P238 .380 if I'm not anywhere near my gun safe to prepare, depending on the situation. There is no perfect firearm for every situation.

Watch the "Out of the Wild: Alaska Experiment" show on Discovery (a month with city people in the middle of nowhere Alaska trying to get back to civilization) that is now on Netflix and you'll get a new respect for what you can do with just a single shot .22 and 410 for feeding yourself, and notice that the larger centerfire rifle completely lets them down in that department, even when they get the assistance of an experienced bear hunter. The show certainly opened my eyes for sure.

More than likely though I'll be keeping a low profile and not escaping to the woods, so probably one of my easily concealed options so as to not to paint myself as a target.

My Russian sks, a bunch of water, if I could carry them my handguns, ammo, done food and more water and my .22 rifle. That's all I have to get by. I'd probably head up north to my more paranoid friends place and hold out while the professionals take care of business.

TAcgunner, what flashlight is that mounted on your G23? I've hear rail mounted lights make the Glock 23 unreliable (maybe FUD). Is that light trigger guard mounted?

Oh, back on topic, if the Zombies attack, I'll hit pause and get some more chips, maybe go to the bathroom before restarting the DVD.

it's actually an armalaser stingray laser sight attached to a CAA under barrel rail mount attached to the trigger guard. since i have a gen 2 23 its the only real option i have for a light/laser. have had no failures of any kind. perhaps because it attaches to the trigger guard and not the dust cover. whatever the reason, the thing is solid!

Well on a realistic note, I always try to be prepared to make te 3-4 day hump getting home in case of a major disaster such a large earthquake. In hich case, I am prepped with a get home bag. GLOCK 19, spare mags, ammo, and the basic items in your normal GHB.

Being prepared for real possible outcomes is smart. Preparing for zombies is for kids in fantasy land.

People have all kinds of different meanings when they say SHTF. So it all depends on the situation. Gun wise it would be a Glock 17 9mm for most situations, and an AR for if it really hits the fan. I keep spare ammo, medical supplies, all weather clothing, etc. in a bug-out-bag in the trunk and considerably more supplies at home.

This is one of those questions where it totally depends on the situation. If I have a home base to defend then without question I'd have my one gun be my AR-15. I can store tons of ammo if not carrying it, and it is powerful enough to take care of most any threat. Doubtful rhinos and elephants will be invading my home base...

If I am wandering with no place to stay, then I'd have my 10/22 and 5K rounds since it's not too heavy to carry and 5K rounds will last me a long time. Seems silly to use my larger caliber guns if I have to carry the ammo since the weight would allow only a small amount to be on my person. Realistically, a couple hundred rounds of .556, .45 or even 9mm would be heavy and in the event of real danger I don't see it lasting long.
