Does anyone have any experience with this gun?

Is it reliable? Fun to shoot?

The cost is pretty low, and I know you get what you pay for, but any gun should function well in my opinion.

How is the RIA warranty and customer service?

Thanks

Thanks Jara,

That review was way back in 09. About how many rounds have you put through it to date? Any problems?

What magazines did you end up using and would recommend?

I've been thinking about getting one also -

My RIA full rail 6" long slide in .45 punches out the 10 hole at 20 yards mag after mag even with gunshow reloads -

But for the carry weight of a 1911 the 9mm doesn't seem to offer much of an advantage over the .45 besides ammo cost...

Thanks Danny,

I already have a couple of 1911s and thought of the 9mm for my wife because of the lower recoil. I like the 1911s extra weight, so that is not an issue.

Good thread. Only because I want one too. But get this, it is NOT on the roster and I have never did the SSE. So I started looking at the STI 1911 9mm. Sure enough, its also off the roster. I hate California.

I am looking at buying one on the SSE. Just wondering if it is worth the trouble, and it appears to be. I think I will proceed with it.

I am now looking at a FFL closer to home that will do it, so I don't have to drive to LA twice.

Check the SSE sticky for a list of FFL's doing SSE.

I already put about 1200 rounds and no issues.

Used Checkmate and Mec Gar mags.

I shot wolf, brown bear, UMC and WWB in it.

Going to try Hollowpoints soon.

Ya, it's not too much trouble. My buddy did all his 4 pistols that way, but it was convenient because the FFL was nearby. I'm considering it if I find an FFL nearby too...

I have one and love it. It quickly became my favorite pistol to shoot. I now have 800 rounds through it and have had no problems with FMJ ammo. I initially had a couple of FTFs with JHP, but not recently. Below is a link to the thread I started after I had taken mine to the range.
