Hey all,
Its time again for a new pistol. I have time and money to waste until I can find a SGL 21 in stock lol. So with that being said im looking into a P345. I have a buddy who has had one sice 2006 and he has over 10,000 rounds through it with zero malfunctions he literally keeps records on all his guns lol (OCD at its finest). I own quite a few Rugers but none in .45 Auto. So with all that being said does anyone have any experience with this particular model good or bad? I have fired his many times and cant think of anything I didnt like about it. Thanks for your input guys.

P.S. I dont like glocks or XD's and H&K's are to pricey. So no "Get a Glock" replys please lol

Thought I'd weigh in on your question...
I own quite a few Rugers as well and love their firearms and the company.

Had my 45th birthday recently and wanted to get a .45ACP pistol to mark the occasion. I went to various LGS's and handled the Glocks, XD's, HK's, and more and none really felt good. Finally had the chance to handle the Ruger P345. It felt alright, but it just seemed like I was 'settling' on that one for a .45ACP pistol.
I then decided that I should look at the various 1911 models. Checked out the Springfields, Kimbers, Sigs and finally settled on the S&W 1911.
Bought one and haven't looked back since...

I wish the SR1911 was available on roster in CA., would have probably considered that one, too. I did not want to go the SSE path.
Ruger has received a bunch of my money, so decided to give S&W some of it for a 1911.

Maybe ask yourself what you want in a .45ACP pistol.
If you are set on a non-1911 platform, perhaps even check out used P90's. Very accurate and very ergonomic pistols...

Well I like the de-cocker, and the DA/SA operation. Which leads me to a H&K but they r pricey.

Agreed on the P90. I have one, and will never sell it. Surprisingly I shoot it better than any other semi-auto I've held or own. It has great balance, rugged as can be. Stainless barrel. Very lefty friendly.

And they go for cheap. I have not shot the P345.

EDIT: Found this thread...

My p345 is easily one of the most reliable guns I own. I trust my life to it.

P345 is at the top of my list right now. Who knows when they'll discontinue it, so if you want one I'd say do it now. I haven't shot one yet, but I have a P94 in .40 which I love, and the ergonomics of the P345 fit me really well.

P90 hands down, but I am a Ruger bigot.

Being a Ruger nut the 345 is on my list. I have shot one before and it felt good in my hand and shot good.

I will say if you can afford it you won,t regret getting a good 1911.

I have never heard anything but good things about the Ruger P345. I passed on it only because I have such an investment in the 1911 platform. (Same reason I did not go with the excellent S&W M&P 45). Like others in this thread, I wish that the SR1911 was available in Soviet California. I really like Ruger products and own many--all have performed perfectly.

I have about 1,000 rounds through my P345, love it, deadly accurate!
