View Full Version : my obligation for handgun i inherited

about 30 years ago I inherited a small revolver (colt .32 police positive) from my sister when she passed away. It had belonged to my grandfather originally. Her significant other handed it over to me.

Do I have any legal obligations to register this? Is there a statute of limitations that protects me? If I have an obligation what is the process?

Thanks, Larry

Hope this helps Larry..

I completed this doc and sent $19 when I took over my dad's pistols when he went back to the Philippines for good.

30 years ago in state, paperless, private transfers were legal.

Yep. You don't have to do anything.

Funny, I have a .32 Police Positive I got essentially the same way, a gift from my Grandfather in about 1989, He bought it from a coworker in the 40s for $20.

thank you for the info. i did not want to indavertantly violate some law. this gun does not see the light of day so the chances of it ever being an issue is small and it was over 30 years ago.
