View Full Version : M9 trigger/safety issue... action failed to cycle...
04-30-2012, 9:43 AM
I took my M9 out last week, and it performed flawlessly. I went out with my son this weekend, and he has some issues with the double action not cycling, trigger pull when "on fire", but it acted as though the safety was still on.
I thought he was doing something wrong, and had him put it on safe, and back to fire, and he continued to have issues. I experienced the same thing, double action cycling was missing, as if the safety was still on.
Is this a known issue, or something I should address with my FFL?
(It has not failed to function since then, and I put about 70 more rounds through it with 0 issues, today is my 30th day with this pistol.)

Hope you find an answer... Any chance the rounds didn't chamber correctly and prevent the slide from fully closing?

Since I WAS using my first reloads, I think I may have been resizing just shy of full length, however I had no issues in the Lady's SR-9...
Since I currently have all the dies set correctly for a FL sizing (NOW) :) , I don't see that being an issue from here on out as the dies are locked in place. I will have to see if I have this issue returns, as for now I have yet to have an issue after the problem disappeared.
I was using some brass donated by a coworker (as I had yet to attain a range membership until recently, for brass pick-up), and the brass looked as though it was loaded REAL hot (bulging a bit from just passed the rim of the case head), so resizing may have come into play here mixed with the possibility you suggested...
Thanks for the "input$"!

If the problems persist, most FFL's will have nothing to do with any warranty issues. Some of the good ones will help you ship it out to the mfg if you need guidance. In this case, factory ammo is the instant cure.
Your rounds were not fully seating, keeping the disconnect activated while the slide was not fully forward.

Change to factory ammo.

I tested this theory last night... I held the slide back a few mm, then even more for further testing, and the hammer pulled back just fine. Bad ammo was apparently not the case. Not sure what is...
All specs as far as I can tell (per caliper) seem to be same as factory. I will post here if I have issues again. Never an issue with ANY ammo until this time, on the SR-9 or the M9 on first range trip(, or about 5th trip with the SR-9).
Thanks for your help.
