So a good friend of mine and I went to the range yesterday to let off some steam.
After watching some hickok45 videos we decided we would try to hit a bowling pin at a 100 yards. After a few shots each we both managed to hit them.
He was using his Springfield MC Operator and I used my Kimber TLE/RL II we both used 230 grain ball ammo.
Please feel free to chime in with your longest pistol shot I would love to hear about them.

Prairie dog at 300+ yards

With my 14" TC Contender bull barrel in 223 Rem.

I have shot an 8" steel plate at 100 yards with my Caspian 1911 in 40 and 38 Super.

The farthest I get to go out is 50 Yards. There is a steel plate pole of 6 rotating targets at the Laguna Seca Range. They are about 6 inch squares. Best I've done without missing is 4 out of 6. I'm still waiting for 6 of 6, and I hope someone sees me do it.

Then at Metcaf in San Jose I enjoy just shooting the steel pole that is part of the back stop about 30 yards out. I can pretty much hit it at will. It doesn't mean I'm a great shot. It just means I usually error on the side of elevation (and not left/right). I usually shoot at that when I get there before I can set up targets while waiting for the cold range call.

135yrds is common at ITTS handgun 2-3 classes. It's not that hard. Just more intimidating for people to unlearn the crap they read online about what a fun can do. Hell, I had no idea a .22 can be shot out to 300yrds... But guys do it in matches all the time

I was able to hit a grapefruit at 100 yards with my Model 41. It took about 2 magazines before I could finally hit it.

In my earlier days I could hit a hawk in it's eye at a thousand yards out...

100yds here consistantly with 8 shots 9mm @ a 24" plate. Good way to learn about your trigger pull. Feels good at a hundred doesn't it?

24" group with a Sig p238 pocket pistol at 75 yards. Not bad for this old fart.

If any of you are familiar with the auberry range, and the 300 plate. We were hitting that with a p229 and a 1911, took about 3 rounds to guage where we needed to be, as the the target is elevated.

I was hitting that the other day with a GSG mp5 .22 which impressed me even more.

Gallon paint can @ 125 yards with my stock GI M9 at the Al Asad Gun Range. I hit it 6 times out of 15.

I did it to shut up my CMC who was bragging about his ability to hit the can with his M4 while our GM1 can't.

Is the steel plate at 400 yards still up at Laguna Seca?

Hickok45's 300 yd. gong is pretty damn big. I'm guessing it's at least 3 ft. wide. After figuring out the hold, it shouldn't be too hard a shot.

My longest pistol shot was with my 9mm subcompact and the target was about 175 yards away. We were shooting at a car rim.

Once you figure out how to hold over, its really not that hard. I don't do it often, but its a lot of fun. I was hitting about 3 out of 10.

I also was inspired by Hickock45 as well.

My standard test is to shoot any pistol I can get my hands on at the 100 yard plate an Angeles Range, the less likely the better. I think so far I have the best hit rate with my Glock 26 (almost 10/10, have to try it again for keeps).

My best Hollywood shot so far was a ~125 yard shot on a 1/2"x8"x12" aluminum plate out in the desert. The newbies were shooting an AK at it and nobody hit it yet so I went to the car, came back with a .50AE Desert Eagle, hit it on the first shot, hit the other plate at 100 yards, said "rifles are for p*****s!", then walked off like nothing happened. Their reaction was priceless. I'm pretty sure the gun will easily hit to 200+ if my eyesight wasn't so bad or I put a scope on the rail.

A 24" gong at 200 yards and a steel ram at 300 yards all with my kimber stainless. All with 230 gr round ball. Can do it with atleast 5 out of 8 rounds constantly. It takes practice and alot of trigger control.

I can consistanty (+80%) hit the 300 yard gong at Angles with my homebuilt AK pistol and surplus Yugo ammo. When I go to 400 yard, I'm probably at about 65%.

When do they do 50 yards for falling plates? I have only shot the LBFP at the usual 10, 15, 20, & 25 yards.
