I already looked on the flowchart and it says the XM15 Series. Does that include the XR? Thanks

Nope. If it doesn't specifically list it, then it's not included.

If the lower says DCM-XR then it is legal. But are you sure that it does? Or is the DCM-XR rifle built on an XM15 lower, like all other Bushmaster rifles? If that's the case, then it's not legal.

That's not how it works. If the DCM-XR says "XM-15" on the lower, then it's listed.

Kauf, call Bushmaster maybe? Shouldn't be too hard for them to tell you what the rollmark on it says.

True.

But if it says "XM-15" on it, then it's an XM-15, not a DCM-XR, right?

I guess I should have been more clear.

It could very well be that Bushmaster calls an XM-15 lower with a match upper on it, a "DCM-XR". The model name of a completed rifle does not have to match what's printed on the rollmark, and it's that rollmark on the lower that matters in CA. Bushmaster can change stocks and uppers on an XM-15 lower and call that completed rifle whatever they want. It's the reason why "Bushmaster: XM15 (all)" was banned instead of just one specific model.

I found a DCM-XR listing on gunsamerica, and it is unfortunately built on an XM-15 lower.

Well that sucks, but it would still be worth it to call Bushmaster just to find out if maybe they've changed it recently(and if not maybe get the idea floating around over there since Colt and Armalite changed theirs, and I think DPMS quit putting "panther" on everything).
