I'm looking around for mag replacements for my sig p229 enhanced elite and I had a few questions for you guys.

1. Are the mags in the p229 enhanced elite the same as the regular p229 mags?

2. Will a p226 mag load into my p229?

I'm just curious because I'm not certain if the regular p229 has the mag disconnect, and I'm noticing that there are mags advertised for the p229 e2 that "wont fit" in a regular p229.

P229 E2 mag won't fit the older P229 because the newer ones are a little wider. P226 mags will fit into an older P229.

That mec gar mag only fits the newer P229.

Mag disconnect is irrelevant. As DCF mentioned, the newer P229 frames are all the same (I believe it is .40/.357). Whereas IIRC, the older P229's had 2 different frames, one for the 9mm and one for the .40/.357.

The older 229s used different sized magazines for the 9mm and their 40/357 models...because their frames were different.

The 9mm 229 was actually a 228 with a stainless forged slide. Not only was the slide lighter (contoured differently), the frame was sized for a narrower magazine. The E2 was the introduction of using the same frame for all calibers

So from what I understand, an old 226 mag will fit a new 229, but a new 229 mag wont fit an old 229? I get that the new frame is wider than the old one. My guess is an old 229/226 mag will fit a new frame, but just be a little loose or something like that?

So does this mean the P229 Enhanced Elite requires the P229-1 E2 mag?

No, the Enhanced Elite does NOT require p229-1's and is able to take older P228/P229 magazines. I have four P228 mecgar magazines running through my Enhanced Elite. No problems at all.

Sort of. All of the enhanced elites that are on the CA roster use the new frame profile, meaning that they can use both new (p229-1) and old p229 magazines.

Your gun probably came with the new-style 10 rounders, which if you compare really close to the older style magazines you will see that they are slightly wider at the base.

The old style ones will work fine.

2. Will a p226 mag load into my p229?

Yes that will also work. The P226 magazines will stick out the bottom a bit though so be careful not to pinch yourself.

They make an "X-Grip" adapter if you plan to use a P226 magazine in a P229 often. It is a little ring of plastic that prevents you from pinching yourself. Just be aware that you need a P226 magazine with the metal floor-plate to use these.

You can put the new mags and the old mags into the new style frames, but only the old style mags will fit in the old style frames.

You have a new style frame.
