A python of this age In this condition goes for around 1200- 1700. But I got a steal on this. Paid around half of the lower price ;-)

Grand theft revolver! Almost as nice as mine, but for the price, more than excellent!

Can't buy anything here

A real steal would have been trading him the gun for your camera...:)

I second this ^

Thanks for the info on pricing... dam wish I had purchased one "back in the day". I have some other current firearm wishlist just ahead of a 'snake"

Beautiful piece of history and given the price you paid, you probably have a permanent ear-to-ear grin now...

Last month I got a like new Springfield m1a2 socom 2 for 1300, still grinning from that! When the economy is bad ( and you have cash) it's a great time to get good deals on firearms.

I saw that. Was hoping you needed a backup for it. My collection is missing a nice .357

Anyway, enjoy!

I'll keep it in mind if I ever need another! Take a look at a good S&W 686 almost as nice as the python. At half the cost!

Are you going to shoot it?

Yeah but lightly and I'm going to baby it. What's the point of owning a gun you don't shoot?

I bought one of my Pythons new in the early 70's and I shoot it all the time. It still looks as new as the day I bought it. The early 70's ones don't wear out. Baby it yes, but don't worry about shooting it. Congrats on the great deal. If I remember correctly, in the early 70's they sold for around $300 - $350. I bought a S&W 29-2 around the same time and the Python was not much less. Never had an issue with the Python. The 29-2 is a different story.
