I tried a search for opinions this rifle but 90% of the hits are for the pistol.

What is the general consensus of the rifle? How does it compare to the other tactical 22s like the 15-22 and 522 etc? Is $499 new at the LGS a good price?

My purpose of use would be to shoot 1000s of rounds at the indoor ranges here in SD without taking out a personal line of credit. Eventually, I'd like to try Appleseed, steel match and tactical training. I realize I can buy a Marlin, Savage or base 10/22 for much less but I'm favoring Tacticool. 10/22 + Archangel is an option but I like how the SR22 is ready to go out of the box.

Its really heavy, but a solid & good feeling rifle. I bought one in January but since then I built and bought others AR's so I decided to dump the .22 "AR". I sold the barrel and stock kit on ebay this last week and purchased a conventional stock and bull barrel for it. I think the consensus here is that most people prefer the 15-22. I chose the sr22 incase I decided to change to a conventional 10/22, which I did...

solid, good rifle, takes some AR parts and some 10/22 parts, worth it.
