View Full Version : Rainier select 20" or Fulton 18.5"/20"? or??

With the unavailability of the Ultramatch 20 from Rainier, I am looking to wrap up this 308 build... Looking to hunt, but also want to shoot long range with it. Don't want it to be too much of a tank. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger. :43:
I don't want to wait 2-4 months for a barrel. If the Select doesn't shoot straight enough, it does come with a guarantee... RA has no idea when they getting the barrels.
The Fulton barrels are also in stock.... hmmmm. I have looked through many range reports, but was hoping for some current thoughts and feedback.

20" rainier select or 18" chrome lined fulton. Other fulton profiles are just too damn heavy for 'take it hunting.'

FWIW I have a 16" fulton stainless

I just got a 20" Fulton, its a pretty heavy barrel. Im building a bench gun so weight doesnt really matter to me. No way I"d want to carry it around hunting.

Usually barrel length has nothing to do with accuracy.

Ive had the 18.5" Fulton for a few years now. Great barrel and accurate.

Just bought an 18" lighweight Melonite 308 barrel from AR Performance. $220 delivered. Looks good and its skinny. Won't have it mounted for awhile so no field report.

Good to hear! I went ahead and picked up an 18.5" stainless from Fulton. Thanks for the feedback. Will have a range report in a few weeks, with any luck.
