Got comfortable shooting 600 yards at the range, now want to shoot farther. Mapped out a couple of dozen possible good, safe locations in the desert and ready to scout.

Some questions:

My ideal location would be from the top of a hill, 1000 yards out from a sizable backstop- like a mountain would be nice. Anyone know of a good setup like this already, within an hour and a half of LA? Will keep it in confidence. Would be great if I can find something that parallels a road so I can drive up, place target, drive back sort of thing (no 4x4).

Know if AR500 targets make a nice {{ping}}? Good enough to be heard 800-1000 yards away? Or do you need something special for that gong quality?

If you have a group that goes out regularly, would love to hear from you too.

I make a lot of trips to Reno for shootin. There is a great place off of East Lake Blvd outside of sparks. You can see the sand pit from the dirt road on google earth. Great place for plinkin or long range, just make sure you clean up your targets and shells.

Try posting in the range, meets forum. Someone might know there and pm you.
