View Full Version : Recommend Me Some Backup Iron Sights

04-22-2012, 10:06 AM
I've been looking for some backup front and rear sights to replace my MOE backup sights. I need some sights that provide a better sight picture. I've been looking at some Troy sights, but I don't want to spend $200 on them. Does anyone know of a place where these sights can be purchased cheaper?

Look at DD fixed sights.

Most places sell them for roughly the same price, I saved $70 by getting them from Troy during their Black Friday sale. Before that most places where selling them within $20 of each other. Good luck.

Troy; buy once.

or if you want fixed they're quite a bit cheaper. Either DD or troy made nice fixed. I don't like the fixed troy rear though....

Isn't your life worth 200 dollars? Lol:rolleyes: If you can't afford the troys just keep the Magpul sights.

If you don't need folding sights I recommend LMT buis and you can find them pretty cheap online. If you need folding sights I recommend making do with mbus until you can save enough some some quality sights from Troy, KAC, Diamond Head, etc.

What don't you like about the Magpul sight picture? That may help with the recommendations on other sights (HK vs Standard hood, Rear diamond, etc...)

If you want the Troys they are going to cost you but they are nice. I see them pop up on the EE often. What is your budget?

I got my troy for $170 shipped earlier this year from Midwest eStore (http://targetsandtactical.com/main.sc). I found them off ebay.
Not sure if that fits your budget.

Do you really need buis?

At first, I felt the same way as you. But, I finally splurged on their DOA flip ups, no regret, they are well built and the DOA makes target acquisition much faster. Or, maybe you may consider their fixed sights, cheaper, but still just as good.

I just bought a NIB Troy rear flip up BUIS of the Marketplace for $85. Keep an eye out and you'll find them pop up quite a bit. You can buy used Troy products with confidence since they're rock solid.

If buying Troy, just be careful and don't buy if the deal sounds too good to be true, buy from someone reputable. There are Chinese made clones, there are telltale signs, but still.

troys are solid! noveske and lwrc use them. I love my DD 1.5 rear sight however. the LMT rear sight is another I would recommend. The less moving parts the more reliable your sights will be

Matechs are everywhere for ~$40. Decent sight, works well enough.

For flip ups, my favorite are KAC 200-600. For fixed, LMT cutdown carry handle A2 style, modified for RIBZ. (300 yard = +6 clicks) Great fixed sight. Precise, easily adjustable for different yardages, and cowitnesses nicely with an aimpoint. The KAC's can be hard to find and are expensive, but are really nice for flip ups if you are using a magnified optic.

Good luck with your decision. There are a ton of options out there.
