View Full Version : People with AR pivot mount experience

I just ordered the Burris tactical AR pivot ring to go with a dot sight I'm planning to absolute co-witness. I'm curious if the pivot rings are adjustable to flip to either 3/4 height for absolute co-witness, or 1 inch height for lower 1/3 co-witness. The product description doesn't mention height and the customer service person at opticsplanet said they were pretty sure it would work with either configuration. I'm curious if that is accurate.

Believe they gave you bad info. Samson used to make a 30mm pivot mount that had a set screw that you could loosen to adjust height and that's the only mount that I've seen that has that. For magnifiers mounting behind RDS, you want to ensure that the vertical alignment matches. Get a tall mount for RDS on a riser (i.e. EOTech 557, EXPS series, T1 | LT660) and a short mount for non-riser (Eotech 512).

burris doesn't list a height for the AR-QD pivot ring (http://www.burristactical.com/arpivot.html) on either the product page or the FAQs, and i checked both the main website (http://www.burrisoptics.com/burrisusa.html) and burris tactical (http://www.burristactical.com/) as well.
it looks like a low model, but i'm not going to make a purchase based on an assumption from one JPEG. i have an email in to customer service asking specifically about the height of that model, so i'll report back if/when i receive a reply.
ETA: the fact that this product is listed in some places (like this (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&safe=off&cid=7012211893977238833)) as "X-high" leads me to believe it's probably lower-third co-witness.
