Hmm. Wonder if he's getting tired of spending so much time in the edit room, and decided to go after something which doesn't require "creative editting" before it looks bad?

Drug use has been asserted and refuted as a cause for Columbine for a long time, never heard MM make the claim before.

I believe he means prescription "dope your kids up so that they sit still in class, because heaven forbid you just smack them until they learn to control themselves" drugs, not illicit drugs.

Well if MM believes it's true then you know that it can't be that.

The drug claim is against SSRIs, not 'street' drugs:

On a visit to his home April 15, Marine recruiters learned from Harris's parents that their son took a powerful antidepressant called Luvox.

By whom? The pharmaceutical companies? The fact is a number of these kids that have gone on rampages have been on some sort of psychotropic drug. I dont believe in coincidences.

I don't blame it on the guns and I don't blame it on the drugs.

I blame it on the evil nature of these murderers. The drugs were given to the murderers to cover up symtoms of evil found by their doctors, and guns were obtained by the murderers so they could go out and do evil things.

I don't think it's any more complicated than that.

Umm... it's a proven fact that the amphetamines prescribed to children with ADHD/OCD and other learning disabilities are directly responsible for psychotic episodes that would otherwise been avoided if the medicine had not been prescribed.

If he endorses it, there must be a way to profit from it $$$$....

These drugs have been a very common component in these type of events. The problem isn't just the drugs themselves but what seems to be an over dependence on them by psychiatrist and physicians.

He's been working on a documentary <gag! cough!> aimed mainly at HMO's but will probably cover workers compensation & medical handling by insurance companies since his last piece of flickering pooh was splatted on movie screens. I can see how this latest revelation will fit nicely into his new shlockumentary. It all makes sense that he would start making these claims now.

We seem to live in a society where we need to take a pill for everything that ails us. Keeping people too doped up to feel anything about the ups and downs that life offers just MAY make it easier for them to wantonly decide that murder is not such a big deal. Most anybody screwed up enough to open fire in a crowded schoolyard has some history of mental illness and is on meds or has been on meds as part of therapy at some time. I think our mental health care system is flawed.

Not a number of them, ALL of Them so far.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the VT shooting was the same way.

He's working on a new crock-umentary about the big pharma and healthcare industry. It makes sense to blame it on them now.

These drugs are a good start, and keep society on an even keel. However, when Prozium is perfected, I will be in charge of ensuring that none of you miss your intervals.

That, and spinning around shooting people in really improbable ways...

His new crock-umentary is called "Sicko" and pleads for a socialist type of healtcare and against the big pharma:

Sicko is the title of a political commentary film by Michael Moore, scheduled for release in June 2007.[1] It will investigate health care with a focus on large American pharmaceutical companies and Moore's perception of corruption in the Food and Drug Administration.

Via his blog, Moore requested "Health Care Horror Stories" from the public in an effort to share his view on the health care industry.[2]

When asked about this movie, Michael Moore said, "If people ask, we tell them 'Sicko' is a comedy about 45 million people with no health care in the richest country on Earth." He later announced on his site a June release.[3]
