My magnifier takes a beating every time I fire my rifle when it's flipped to the side. The spent cases bounce off the edge of it. Does this happen to anyone else?http://img.tapatalk.com/a6cd882e-4ea6-f8b7.jpg

Put some electrical tape on the part that's getting hit.

it happens... just don't worry about it.

best way to get over the pretty AR syndrome is just start beating the piss out of the entire rifle.

I got dings and scratches and I love every one of em.

Oh Oh, you better leave the gun in the safe. Just kidding.

But seriously I was shooting with a guy that usually uses an ACOG but on this particular rainy day all he had was his irons. I asked, "What's up" and he said he didnt want to get his ACOG wet.

Get a mount with a QD lever so when you dont need it you can just take it off.

How far forward is your magnifier? Mine doesn't seem to have that problem.

Can you turn the mount around so that it flips to the opposite side?

Doesn't happen to mine, but mine is as far back as possible while still in front and folding over the rear BUIS.

Recently got my first AR, got a scratch on the lower the first time at the range (how, I don't know, since I only put it down on wood). My level of care: nonexistent. It's a gun :)

Tape that baby up and let the brass fly!

That's what I was thinking if not move mount forward or backwards maybe.

Can't go forward. The eye relief makes it so that you have to have your face against the magnifier. Or else you won't see dick!

Are the cases ejecting in a different pattern than normal?

Are you using a different type of ammo?

Have you recently changed some internal components?

Look into other mounting options if it bothers you that much. Scratches wouldn't bother me, but I also wouldn't use a flip-to-side mount.

I'd use this: http://www.riflegear.com/p-978-american-defense-magnifier-swing-off-mount.aspx

or the Aimpoint twist-off mount.

Then again, I think the red dot/magnifier set-up is pretty silly when you can have a 1-4x optic with a usable reticle.
