No, the Colt SP1 is specifically named on the original ban 1990 ban list.

Closest you could get would be for the owner to part it out. He would keep the Colt receiver and you get an off list AR-15 lower to rebuild. There goes the "original condition" though.

Fate is right. Sell the colt lower out of state and buy oll lower. You cannot even posess it here intact.

Can you possess it stripped?
My dad left me a SP1 Rifle and a SP1 Carbine when he passed away 3 years ago.
I left them in Arkansas, because they were not legal here. If I could possess them stripped I would love to bring'em out to Kali.
I anxiously await the answer. =]

You cant legally bring the lower receiver here in CA. Everything else is fine.

The entire SP-1 upper is fine...(and they shoot well imo, wel ours does anyway). :)

Take everything off the lower - leave the stripped lower out of California.

Get a nice JD Machine (or other) lower, you can use ALL the parts to re-build an almost complete SP-1.

The lower receiver is the only banned part.

ok =[
Seems like a shame to to do that to two perfectly beautiful weapons.
Mine will stay safe with my Uncle til I leave this state.

Colt doesn't sell stripped lowers afaik, but Fidelis, ratworx, and knesik part them out as full lowers (not stripped).
Check gunbroker too.

They're simple, lightweight and retro-cool.

Colt roll marks have changed in the past year. The new Colt catalog shows a bunch of "M4 CARBINE" roll marks available now which are CA OLLs. They still make listed AR-15 and Match Target roll marks, but also have a Colt Accurized Rifle (CAR) roll mark which is another OLL.

I've been looking for an M4 Carbine lower for a while, no luck yet...but one will come up.
