Last year when I was out of state I purchased a Colt M1896 DA. On my return I sent the necessary reporting form to the CA DOJ thinking "well there's wasted effort just to be a good citizen". Today I received an acknowledgement letter. Amazing! And it means no hassle if I ever decide to sell it.

By the way, if you ever buy a Colt M1896 DA and the handspring isn't broken, don't shoot it. There's a lot of them with broken handsprings and there isn't much that you can do with them. Mine's not broken. So it's one of my handful of safe queens.

The guy I bought it from claimed that he shot it. (Maybe.)

Best!

What form do you have to sent in for an out of State C&R handgun purchased?
