My name is Peter, and I'm a Saigaholic...

It just gets worse and worse...the only good thing about it is I can't possibly decide which one to get so in the meantime I will spend my money on things like food instead...

Look at all these Saiga's!!

Decisions, decisions! I went with the 7.62x39 as that is the traditional AK round.
That was me though. There are also better calibers out there, depending on the intended use(the x39 is not bad though).
I may not be done with my collection though!

I have a Saiga in .223 w/ 16" barrel. I now have more money in "parts" than what I paid for it. But it's the best damn dependable and fun rifle I've ever owned.

Oh ya I really fantasize about the Vepr Hunter in 7.62x54

I have two x39 but only one x54, so another x54 is in order.

Right?

Why, why, why must it be $100 more just for the genuine AK front sight block/handguards? Gosh darn that is one badbutt gun though.

If you do the math, I did before I bought my IZ332 from Rifle Gear, it is actually a fair bit cheaper than buying the parts and doing it yourself.

The hand guard, hand guard retainer, and gas tube will cost you more than $100, and that is if you can do the labor of threading the barrel by yourself, buying the ak front sight with the barrel threading bumps the cost even higher.

IMO its worth a few bucks for the 100 series cause you got the righteous front end and you know the barrel is chrome-lined and already threaded

I picked up the 5.45 Saiga with the front end already converted, it is a badbutt rifle.;) I threw the AK 74 muzzle brake on it, gonna keep it featureless for now.

Not really the same. You need a mag lock with that. Also, I am not a fan of their "Dragunov" stock. I just don't like how it looks (though I do like the standard ones). Now.. if they offered a Vepr that was far cheaper than $1200 with a standard rifle stock.. then I'd be all over it.

You'll need BB for converted Saigas and you will convert;), Vepr from 700 to 950$

I dunno, I like my Saiga's unconverted, and I like the Vepr Hunter. Although I do have the skeleton stock on the 12...already have to have a bb on it anyways...and it does handle nice...ok you might have a point ;)
