Haven't been here in a while, so wondering if you guys and gals have been talking about the distinct unavailability of good 5.56 ammo lately. All my usual online sales places are out of stock. Managed to find at Ammo to Go a 1000 case of American Eagle M855 today (which I plan to use in an upcoming course), but what happened to all the good Federal, IMI and PMC X-TAC M-193-- and it seems like they're jacking up prices on the available M855. The dudes at my local range-- they usually have cases of PMC X-TAC-- tell me they can only get Wolf/Tula now and they don't see any replenishment of the good stuff any time soon. Glad I stocked up on good ammo when I did.

I really wish we could stop with these types of threads election and the end of the world is 7 months out and people are already freaking out.

Although I wish I would have received the memo sooner though. These types of threads probably make people that weren't planning on buying ammo now second guess their purchase next month.

I went through my last 2k of 5.56 and I had to buy some Tula or something for an upcoming class. I hope it functions in my AR I've never shot anything other that M193 or M855 out of my AR's.

Type in your zip and it calculates cost with shipping

I believe ParanoidCivilian is referring to the end of the Mayan Calendar (July 14th, 2012), which some people are interpreting as the end of the world.

*shrugs* wish they had that problem at work. Those damn cases are heavy, and we have pallets of ammo for the poor peons like myself to haul up to the front.

I'll take the load off and just drop it in my trunk so you guys won't have to haul as much :)

It was, but since the Mayans didn't use leap-years, it was actually last year sometime. Nothing to worry about.

That's not too bad, about $.35 a round after shipping for 500 rds.

Some kind of "perfect storm" brewing. Besides the general interest in shooting that has always been there, you now have your doomsday preppers, the folks being brought in by shows like "Top Shot", all the zombie gunners, and those who get caught up in the hoarding mentality and "I'm gonna buy it so you can't have it" train of thought. :( IMHO of course!! ;)

I was just at the gun store in Vallejo and the owner Arris said as of May 1st all the ammo manufactures are raising their prices by 8%.

Boys get it cheap while you can.

I just cleaned out SGAmmo of their .308 Silver Bear. Sorry :)

Nice. I picked up some Federal Match ammo if I go to Sac Valley for the 600 yarder this weekend. I also couldn't control myself and bought 200 rounds of WWB NATO. Owner gave me a great deal I couldn't pass up.

Let's just say paying with cash, prices are much better ;)

I bought a bunch of .223 on cheaperthandirt when I saw how many items were going out of stock.
I am not afraid of Obama taking my guns away. I am more worried about not being able to afford going to shoot in the future because too many paranoid imbeciles are stockpiling ammo and buying everything...
We have barely recovered from the last ammo buying frenzy that sent prices through the roof for 3 years and now it's going to happen again.

Thanks for the replies everyone-- my apologies if I added to the paranoid ammo hoarder, end of the world threads. Not my intent. Just wondering where all the ammo went. It just seemed like last month I could find plentiful supply in all the usual internet places.

I tried to buy 500 rounds of Federal Lake City 5.56 from Ammo to go yesterday but they are completely sold out. They don't even have it listed now on their site. I emailed them and they said it is on order but no ETA.
