I have a Del-ton commercial M4 carbine stock kit that I'm going to use temporarily on my first AR. Eventually I'm going upgrade the stock, most likely one I'll pick up used so I may have to jump on a mil-spec unit. Would I be able to just replace the commercial tube with a mil-spec tube and use the spring and buffer from the commercial kit?

Thanks!

Maybe.

Depending on the commercial kit, the spring and/or buffer may not actually have the correct weight. I've seen low-end "commercial" buffers that weighed half of what they should which caused major function issues. Same with springs.

However, if it's working already, then it will continue to work in a milspec stock. The springs and buffers aren't (supposed to be) different sizes or weights across milspec or commercial.
