Hope this is true!!!

http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?65641-IWI-and-the-Tavor-being-introduced-into-the-US

I was on the phone today with Michael Kassnar; who use to own Charles Daly / KBI (went out of business in 2010) and currently owns Tran World Arms LLC in Harrisburg, PA.

Had a great 30 minute conversation with him today.

They will be the US. IWI rep to market and sell the Tavor and potentially other IWI products down the road.

Here is what I got today:
1. The plan is still on for the Tavor to be availible at the end of this year
2. IWI will be be doing a real estate deal in the next 30 days (wouldn't give me a location, other than a mid-alantic state).
3. It will be called IWI-US
4. In the next 90 days, there will be a number to call for a variety of services.
5. Currently, Tavor goes for 3,000.00 in Canada. It is looking like here in the states; retail will be 1,999.99; although some people are pushing for 1,499.99. But at first, there will be a big push for these; meaning a possible inflated price.
6. The Semiauto carbine will be called a Tavor-SA
7. IWI-US is looking at introducing the ACE, Negev (for law enforcement), UZI and a few others starting in 2014.
8. IWI realizes that it should of been in the US market a while ago; but became privatized just 6-7 years ago. IDF is only about 12-15 percent of the business; but will all be outfitted with Tavors; meaning that there is a lot more market to
capitalize on. They are supporting 40 countries with Tavors now.
9. I brought up the fact about parts for the older models; in which he is going to give me some names / numbers next month.

I will be following up with Michael; once a month going forward. We will see, because actions speak louder than words. I really hope this works out

If IWI is looking for people in their US operations; might have to apply

Yes, this has the buzz since the SHOT 2012 Show. What isn't yet known is exact cost, if there will be a Cal compliant model right out the chute, etc. Details. It is an intriguing rifle, I would like to shoot one. But for what will undoubtedly be a premium priced firearm, it sure does look like a cheap grade of plastic but that could also be crappy lighting too.

I heard possibly at wholesalers for the holiday season or January?

To be fair, we have heard this before. Still no precise release date, cost or distribution schedule? (I'm cautiously optimistic at best)

CA compliance wouldn't be too difficult. The magazine release is the lever visible immediately in front of the magazine in the pictures Steyr223 posted, and it satisfies the federal OAL requirements with an 18.5" barrel. Substitute a 20" barrel, or a 1.5" long permanently attached brake, and a cover pinned over the magazine lever, and it should be good to go.

There's a rumor that it's supposed to be ~1.8-2k in terms of MSRP...for their barebones model i think...and ~2.5 for with the RDS? o_O

You don't need to permanently attach the muzzle device if the barrel is over 16"

You don't need to permanently attach the muzzle device if the barrel is over 16"

You do if you want to legally own and possess in the state of CA, unless you stick a 1.5" thick pad on the buttstock to get overall length to 30". Otherwise it's a felony per the CA AWB.

I wasn't talking about oal. And even then it doesn't have to be permanently attached just has to be over 30" oal. Permanence is not required.

CA AWB does not require permanence, only the magazine laws use that word.

Looks like a cool bullpup. How does it compare to the FS2000?

Regarding the barrel length, here are TWA's comments on that from back in January:

The sample shown at SHOT, with a 16" barrel (cold hammer forged, 1:7 twist, chrome lined) and full length Picatinny top rail, is only one configuration that is contemplated. (Actual production of this model will have a 16.5" barrel in order to meet the US minimum 26" OAL.) Other models could include a 18" version with or without the Mepro 21 reflex sight; perhaps to become the "IDF" model.) The number of models to be offered has not been finalized.

Also, this has to be the 5th or 6th Tavor thread started since January.

What's that rifle above the Tavor in the pic? I like that one more. Kind of reminds me of an FAL with an AK mag release and HK front end/sights.

It's a Sig 550 / PE90. Basically a Swiss AK in 5.56mm.

You could build one using a Sig 556 or Sig 551A1 as a base, but it will cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of $4,000 - $5,000 to do so.

I will definitely want to see a "shootout" review between the Tavor and the FS2000. They are both intriguing and I am interested in both of them but will obviously only be able to afford one (possibly).
