Do any of you guys know whether or not it is legal to hunt big game with buckshot in CA? I checked the regulations and came up with this:

(b) Shotguns capable of holding not more than three shells firing single slugs may be used for the taking of deer, bear and wild pigs. In areas where the discharge of rifles or shotguns with slugs is prohibited by county ordinance, shotguns capable of holding not more than three shells firing size 0 or 00 buckshot may be used for the taking of deer only.

So it looks like it is illegal to hunt with buckshot with that one exception, but I'm just wondering if I missed something? Can anyone confirm whether or not I am correct.

I know that buckshot is legal for deer in the shotgun only areas, so it looks like you're reading it correctly to me.
