Frankly quite annoyed at Bushmasters tech support. Talked to someone on Friday about whether a Milspec tube would fit in my pre-ban Bushmaster.
The tech support guy just told me unenthusiastically ......"yeah". Yeah it will fit? "Yeah, it'll screw in"...
I'm no tech but, what I do know is physics is physics. Been trying to find a solution now for a few weeks now. I really like VLTORS A5 and B5's SOPMOD stock, but I don't think they'll fit. Any of you pre-ban Bushmaster owners come up with viable solutions? Thanks in advance!

Commercial or Mil spec. The threads into the receiver is the same.

I'll have to give it a try. Trying to decide on VLTOR A5 or LMT SOPMOD,
decisions, decisions...

Maybe try calling Vltors or sopmod. I think its harder for bushmaster techs to know if aftermarket stuff would fit their gun

I thought there was a way to tell by the threads, like, how they were cut. By the diagram, it looks like the commercial tube is threaded all the way back as well?

You've already received the correct answer ^

Millspec and Commercial differ in the way they are made and the way the threads are cut. Both have the same thread size and pitch.

Commercial also has a different end but that doesn't really pertain to your question.
Get a milspec tube assembly and a milspec stock and you will be fine.
BTW Vltor makes a stock that will fit your rifle buffer (it actually fits both rifle and carbine tube)

^This. This. This.
Commercial vs. Milspec has everything to do with the stocks and tubes and NOTHING to do with the actual receiver.
