View Full Version : New K31 for ME!

Well while at the Angeles today I bought a K31 from SKSer45. Well more like jipped him out of it! hahahahaha

He's currently battling a case of the German Mauser flu so needed to move something and there I was, with cash in hand and baited breath :)

Nice walnut one - troop tag included. Can't read a word on the tag - I'll have to really study it to see what it says. Not faded out or rubbed out - just some scribbling in a language that I don't sprech.

I shot it some but it was more of a modern gun day at the range for me. The AR and PTR91 needed some attention. That was only my second time shooting the AR that I built over a year ago and the 91 hasn't been out in maybe a year and a half. The 91 is just really no fun to shoot. You just kind of whisper to it where you want the bullet to go and it does the rest of the job for you. It's a "special" one - MSG perimeter sniper model, floated Thompson bbl, scope, blah blah blah... but I digress...

He brought out his new K98 that he recently aquired. Don't tell him I said so but it's really nice! All markings in tact, etc. Sweet rifle.

I'll get the K31 apart and inspected soon. Find out the year, etc. and take some pictures of it. I will probably switch my Diopter over to the new one and get it sighted in. The other rifle I think has issues that I'm not well versed enough in the workings of a K31 to figure out.

But once it's sighted in... maybe a trip to the Carmel Gun Club for a Swiss match? There is another one coming up soon I think. And if I can get this rifle shooting half decent that would be a kick to shoot!

So apparently everything that I have done to cure this Flu has not worked. I may just give in and let it take over... let it morph me into something else... Kind of like the movie "The Fly"... I just hope some fly doesn't end up with my head on it... and I'm sure judging by the way I look so does the fly! hahahahaha :)

Sounds like a great new addition, but where are the pictures!? It's like you are just teasing us or something.

I'll get pics in a day or two. To tired tonight to get into that whole process.

I didn't totally take advantage of him, just a little ;) He had a girl with him and was busy showing her "how to hold the weapon" so he was a little distracted ;)

Congrats, I am sure you and the Swiss will be very happy together, although your AR and 91 are going to get jealous.

But now it's mine Dingle... to do with as I please... to touch her where and when I please... to do things you don't even want to know about... miss her yet?

Post some good pics of the troop tag on this forum,

Guisan will help you decipher the writing and probably give you a link to the current address to the previous owner or his family.

Nice looking rifle by the way. My second M-1911 is coming next week.
