Two or more months after finishing my MK3 9mm build with an IO semi auto tube and bolt, I Parkerized it today. Came out pretty nice. I already shot it and it was a good time. Now time to start my 7.62x25 build. :gunsmilie:

semi parts came from http://www.indianapolisordnance.com

I think I got the parts kits on gunbroker. I was a while back.

How does it shoot?

I finished mine and took it to the range to adjust the springs (you have to cut them off until it cycles good).

Have you done that yet?

shoots very close to point of aim.

the recoil spring is uncut, the striker spring I cut enough to install the striker. ran %100 using factory FMJ ammo.

I want one! How did you make it Cali compliant (fixed stock?) but what about BB?

Ahh, that makes sense. So I wonder why all of the out of state places that sell the Sten MKIII (or clone) won't sell to California?

Those are Sterlings, not STENs. No one markets a complete STEN. Sterlings have pistol grips and so must have a BB.

How was the difficulty of the build?

How was the difficulty of the build?

easy for me as i have extensive metal working experience and the right tools for the job. I am lucky enough to have a machine/fab shop at my disposal. It could be built with a drill press, dremel and mig welder in your garage with a little determination.

How reliable is it?They are very reliable once they are adjusted. I know where a kit is available for $175 shipped if anyone is interested.

I cut my springs per the instructions that came with the kit. then you fire a round and see if it cycles all the way. If it don't then you trimm a little off each spring (just one loop at a time) and fire it again until it cycles completly and your done.

I cut mine up at home and used both a jig saw and a Dremmel to cut the tube and welded it up at work, but if you have a welder, you can do these at home with out any problem.

I painted my using Bronnell's Alumahyde (epoxy for firearms, and solvent proof) as they were painted originally and I wanted to keep it as close to "original" as possible, but sometimes I wish I had parked it.

Here is a good article on how I built it
