Forgive me for not seeing the names, but I just saw a guy on MSNBC interviewing a woman from congress in Virginia about gun control.

The woman was saying that they need to stop selling "high capacity clips" and "barrel shrouds" on guns(something to that nature). The MSNBC news guy kind of attacked her and asked if she knew what a "barrel shroud" was. She looked clueless and changed the subject.

He then stopped her in her tracks again and asked her what a barrel shroud was and that she had written this in some gun law she helped write. She said "I don't know" with an embarrassed look.

The news guy then asked her "don't you think we should put more effort in figuring out what makes people do this kind of thing, instead of trying to control guns?"

I loved it!!

Anyone else see this??

Yes. It was the pundit known as "Tucker" interviewing Senator McCarthy, one of the authors of the new AWB. Three times she sidestepped his question about "what is a barrel shroud?" and he finally got her to answer.

"I don't know. I think it's something that flips up to your shoulder." was her answer.

Tucker replied, "No, that's not it."

LOL

Oh man, I hope that makes it to YouTube.

Although sadly the Brady guy was right about the existence of extended magazines for handguns.

But I do think that it was funny how he mentioned the possibility that "more guns make us safer." :D

It's all about labels. "Weapons used by gangs", "Assault weapons", "Military weapons", etc.

The reasoning behind banning barrel shrouds on pistols is that they allow the pistol to be grasped in a way that allows rapid fire. While I don't agree with this at all, that's the logic (or lack therof) behind it.

But banning them on RIFLES!? Give me a break! That would ban free-floating handguards for ARs, which are designed for accuracy, not "spraying".

LOL hahahahahahahahahah WTF!!??? OMG that has got to be the stupidest thing I have read in a long time. "The term `barrel shroud' means a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel of a firearm so that the shroud protects the user of the firearm from heat generated by the barrel." so now they're trying to make firearms more dangerous for the user, by banning a device that keeps the user from getting severely burned? what nonsense...

Congresswoman McCarthy is a Brady hack from Mineola NY. Unfortunately, I have family in her district. She is a single issue Congresswoman. Back in the early 90’s, her husband and son were killed on the Long Island Railroad after a shooting. It's nice to see a cable news show where pundits can’t dance around issues., though I would have liked to see Tucker beat her over the head with her own ignorance for a bit longer.

Any talk about extended magazines with respect to this incident needs to be shut down right away, this guy could have done what he did with half a box of ammo! for gods sake he could have picked up his empties from the first shooting and reloaded them in the 2.5 hours that the campus PD was pi&#$%g themselves over the first incident.

We need to make more laws because the guy that shot her family sure obeyed the law that created the "gun free" train zone didn't he?!

I hate that lady. Why oh why wasn't she there to protect her husband with some legislation that day!?

"Barrel Shrouds" don't those let you fire all day without reloading. Sorry my mistake it's pistol grips that do that. Bimbo doesn't have a clue. Just think it's people like her that are running this country.

Is it just me or is anyone else picking up on the new lingo by the gun control freaks. It used to be Assault Weapons or high capacity this and that. The new buzz word that they are trying to get mainstream seems to be "High Powered". I have heard it no less than 10 times from different anti's and multiple times in some interviews. I think they are setting up the next ban. Ban all "High Power" weapons.

Am I way off? Should I get a tin foil hat?

whit
04-19-2007, 9:00 PM
you're right,

the "High-Powered" crap has been floating around a lot.

I mean, he had a 9mm and a .22 fercryinoutloud!

I guess he could have gone for a .17 and tossed a smaller chunk of lead out there, but it's pretty ridiculous to categorize these as High-powered.

And of course if you want to compare any handgun to the dreaded "Assault Rifles" that are now ownable in most of the US, then ALL of them are low-powered.

Heck, half the people I know won't carry a 9mm cause they think it's too puny.

This is eveidence that our legislators are making laws without the due dilligence to make sure thay are making effective and realistic laws based on truth.
Mrs. McCarthy is only against guns because one killed her husband and put her son in a wheelchair.
She has no business writing or sponsoring gun laws because she has absolutley no understanding of firearms.

Should we have legislators who don't drive writing our vehicle codes?

How can something get banned by a law written by someone who cannot even decribe accurately what it is getting banned?

How can we hold these legislators to their actions?

I'm introducing legislation to prevent street racing deaths. I want to ban "Ground Effects" on cars. They are the wings on the back that allow the car to hit triple digits. I should know, I had a loved one die in a car crash and I've seen cars like this in "The Fast and the Furious".

Here is LA we pretty much have laws like that too!
I have had friends get tickets for "modified emissions systems" because their engine bay had too much chrome
