There is one in our WTT forum right now. If I was going to buy one Id give one of our online vendors a PM and ask them what they could get you one for. Im sure it will be close to the best price if not the best.;)

What is the benefit of the 552 over the 512 other than NV compatible?

Thats it, if you like the ones the GIs are using then you want the NV model.

Heh, you guys DO know that the only reason all the vendors look so "high" on EOtechs is because of MAP, right?

If you go under EOTech's Minimum Advertised price, they'll get upset at you.

Try calling around, don't just automatically assume that vendor X is going to be the cheapest game in town. The key is Advertised; they can give you lower prices over the phone or whatnot.

EOTech wants everyone to pay the same price for their optics, no matter what vendor it's at.

I just bought one last week. I love it. I got the 551 because i'm not going to need it to run 2000 hrs and i can't afford NVG's so i used the money i saved to buy some beer :)

Yes, that's all because of advertised pricing. You can sell it for less, you just can't advertise it. Which is why pretty much all the vendors have the same price online...

So...it doesn't really need a mount? It comes with everything needed to mount it on a flattop?

You can mount it directly onto the flatop rail. Some will mount a 1/3 inch riser to the flatop and then place the Eotech onto this riser. This will allow the red-dot of the Eotech to "float" a little above the tip of the front sight (if you have a front sight mounted on the barrel), but still use your back-up iron sights (BUIS) and look thru the Eotech glass for aiming. This may be necessary if the Eotech stops working due to a malfunction/damage/dead batteries.

I would mount it directly onto the flatop at first. This will co-witness with the front sight (when the rifle is sighted in the red dot will be on top of the front sight post). Try it this way ... if it's annoying to you, then you can always add the 1/3 inch riser later.

You should have all the hardware to mount directly to the rail in the box of a new Eotech unit.

Yup.. everything you need to mount directly on the flattop for an "absolute co-witness" will be found in the box. As the prior post indicated, you can also mount it on a 1/3" riser (sold seperately) to get a "lower third co-witness."

To see the result of these two methods, check out the bottom of this link: http://groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/sightsopticsfaq.msnw

I've seen some seriously great deals on Eotechs in the ar15.com Equipment Exchange. I just wish I had the cash right now to get one right now.

If you like the N battery, it's not bad.

Is there anything wrong with the "N" battery? Or is just availability the problem?
