I have been looking to add a C&R gun to my collection for some time now and Ive chanced upon these two deals online. One is a PW Arms Yugo M48 for 239.99 and free shipping from thegunsource. The other is from samcoglobal czech 8mm mauser for 229.99 plus shipping. Anyone have anything to say about either company/model? Im looking for shooter quality essentially.

I dont really know a lot about mausers and if someone could help me pick between the two models/companies that would be great. Also is the pricing good?

We have vz24, 24/47, 98K, and M48 Mausers. Their all Great Mausers for their own reasons.
My M48 is the best shooter.
Best reason to buy one. It's Mauser. :D

Not bad prices on them.

The Czech one has a stock the fakers use to make late war clones.

You would not be burned with either one.

They're both good. The Czechs tend to have better fit and finish, from a little better to a lot better.

What about the companies themselves?

The first one is the yugo m48 made after the war one of the last own designs made. A lot of them were never used and just stored away. The action is a little shorter then a standard k98. Cant say anything about the company selling them.

The second the k98 is either one that was made at the brono factory under Nazi occupation or is a yugo capture German k98. Either way they usually ground off the original German markings and rolled there own crest on it. They are more close to a true k98. Samco takes for ever to ship you rifle so be prepared.

Prices not bad from either. Cant say which one to pick but I love my k98.

Samco takes forever? About how long can we expect for them to ship? I went to order from Century again and I would be looking at 6 weeks to get my order so I passed and order elsewhere. if it is a week or so for them to ship then I am in but if they takes weeks I am not sure I could take it!:oji:

I have a Yugo M48 and assume it'll be the first of a few Mausers to come. It hits minute of steel quite well. I'm thinking I either want a Czech version, or K98 next.

Great info here:

Well thanks for letting me know on the Samco ordering. I just do not want to get stuck in a waiting game. It is not like they have to build the guns we are ordering they have to walk out put it in a box and slap a label on it.

I will say for sure my purchases from J&G have all been perfect. Great shipping times and good guns. (I have bought 18 rifles from them over the past month.) I just ordered another Yugo 24/47 today. The last one I got was nice and I want one more. But I was really hoping to get a k98 capture from Samco but no way I will wait months to get it. I will keep looking around for one of those. One will pop up for me. I will take a photo of my Yugo 24/47 and post it up from J&G later today.

Take your time, keep an eye on the for sale section and buy one from a forum member.

The Yugos are nice and all, but I'm going in for a clean RC which should be a good shooter.

Too bad money doesn't grow on trees.
