Hey guys,

I'm looking at ordering an 1891 Argentine from Recon Ordnance. I don't like that they sell the "bolt parts kit" separate from the rifle (seems like a "bait and switch" to me). Luckily, I have an 1891 sporter that I don't really use, so I'm just going to re-build the bolt with that one.

Have any of you ever dealt with Recon? I tried calling but the phone went directly to voicemail and I have yet to hear back...

There are other places to buy from. I checked his site long ago and was not impressed. http://www.reconord.com/

Yeah, I'm a bit sketched out by the "bolt parts sold separately" thing but the prices are really good and I already have an 1891 bolt. I really like those Mannlicher style carbines and I haven't really seen those anywhere else.

Some one ordered one here a while back and posted pics they seemed happy. Let me see if I can find the link.

I think this is from same company.

1891 Argentine Mauser ≠ M95 Mannlicher.

Those are Styer Mannlicher rifles. Not the same.

True but, it's just an example of a lot of other avenues out there.

I read that the rifles and carbines came from a military school, thus the stripped bolts. I have also read that they are in really nice shape and a bargain for the money. 1891s haven't been on the market for decades in this quantity. If you want one, grab it now.
