...going to an honest auto repairman. I was going to get my transmission rebuilt because it's been "slipping" and "clunking" into gear. I took it to a recommended trans shop with the expectations of needing a rebuild (I saved for this rebuild for two months) and the guy took a look at it. We went on a drive, he looked under the hood, hmm'd and hahh'd then he says to me that the transmission is slipping because the fluid is 1) old/dirty/has lost consistency and needs to be flushed, and 2) it's clunking in to gear because two out of three of my motor mounts are broken. He showed me and sure enough, they're broken. Bought the motor mounts, did a trans flush and $1000 in savings later I'm torn about what I should do.

AK-47 or a Saiga 12?

I would go for the Saiga 12, oh and how about the shops info for those in your area?

The shop isn't in my area, it's down (I believe) in the city of South Gate. It's called B & V Transmissions on Garfield Ave. I was recommended there by a smog shop owner who is a friend of the family. I didn't tell the trans shop guy who recommended me until after he did the inspection (which was free). He was like oh yeah! He's a good guy. I wanted to say, "No, you're a good guy!"

I like it when you run into someone thats honest. That's probably why he's so recommended by people. It's hard to find a good auto repair that doesn't take advantage of hard working people. I've been using the same repair shop for 25 years, the original owners son runs it now, but they only fix what's broken and don't scam me on a bunch of other stuff.
