If the OAL of this rifle is 29.5 inches with the buttstock collapsed, then it isn’t CA compliant (minimum OAL of a rifle must be at least thirty inches in any configuration in which it may be fired).

And why doesn’t Armalite offer this in the format that they pioneered: mid-length gas system, with one of their excellent stainless steel barrels?

That number has to be wrong.
Any AR carbine with 16" barrel and carbine stock is over 30"

How could it possibly be 29.5" with a 16" barrel? Mine is 33" I think with a MOE stock, I don't think the CAR stock is that much shorter even though the buffer tube is flush with the butt.

Only in a non-free state would .5" convert an otherwise legal AR into an SBR.

Entire Marketing department of Armalite needs to be FIRED! should have done an intensive research first before Marketing it as a California compliant Rifle.

Its still not an sbr in CA, its an assault weapon.

I foresee a mountable rubber butt pad in their future.

"Overall Length: 35.5" with Stock Extended, Approximately 32" Collapsed"

Says so on the website. The flyer is probably wrong I guess?

maybe they measured wrong

I spoke with Armalite to be certain, according to Armalite the collapsed length is a misprint. It should exceed 30 inches.

The collapsed length according to Armalite is 32".

Go straight to the source, folks.

It has to be. An A2 flash hider on an 18" barrel to the castle nut is around 26", if this thing were only 30" with a 16" barrel it wouldn't be long enough to include a buffer tube, let alone the stock attached to the buffer tube.

(if it were a folder that would be possible, but it's not)

The flyer is obviously misprinted.

Not that I'd really be interested in buying one, but it is nice to see yet another big name giving the CA legislature the finger.

Too late in the game for generic looking AR's from big name manufacturers.. They need an edge, a game changer...

Yeah, because that's stopped Colt from selling their SP models.

That rifle is using there spr mod 1 upper. I have one an it's really nice. It's a monolithic upper in the true since. Uses standard barrels and has interchangeable rails. I own a complete upper and I built a pistol upper of of one. This should be a nice rifle.

Do this with the new AR-10A rifles and I will buy one

Yeah, because that's stopped Colt from selling their SP models.

I think Colt is selling more to impulsive first time buyers and fanboys rather than all the people who already picked up a better made AR, I chose a DDM4V1 over the monolithic Colt for my first AR, they didn't buy me with their late introduction and lack of support for the state i live in. Plus i didn't see Colt throwing an AR15 with an Aimpoint T1 out of a helicopter! They are mocking you! LOL :D

“The information was entered incorrectly and is going to be changed. The website manager pulled the information off a flyer which was incorrect. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.”

I checked their website and it has already been corrected:

“Overall Length: 35.5″ with Stock Extended, Approximately 32″ Collapsed”

Don't need to memorize any diagram, sbr is a short BARREL rifle.

A rifle under 26" OAL is also an SBR.

Fix the OP/Title, it was a typo.

I bet you if Red Jacket were to team up with Armalite they'd sell a lot of these AR's.

Red Jack AR's aren't even on the same level as Armalite. Armalite is one of the few who does almost everything in house.

I can vouch for there accuracy claims. My upper if I do my part will do 1.5". Mine is a 1/7 though.

I have since purchase altered mine. It now has the midlength COP kit I bought on it and the carbine it came with is on a pistol.

Great product and the OAL is 33" not 29.5"

I know it meets OAL and that the 29.5 was a mistake but people are making a big deal out of it not meeting OAL. If it were to NOT be meeting OAL just put that pad on there and problem solved.
