Just a fast 'Hi' from St. Louis (my 10th straight NRA convention). The 2007 Annual Meeting has been an outstanding event. Yesterday, Gov. Blunt signed Missouri's "Katrina Bill" (and he did that right here at the convention!), preventing confiscations during emergencies. NRA is moving this legislation in all 50 states and federally. You can track NRA's CA version at:

On the personal level, yesterday I met Cam Edwards who appreciated finally putting faces on the names of some of the CA folks he'd heard so much about. Cam really complimented CA on the activism and results we've been having. He said he really wanted to meet Ed Worley, our state lobbyist (FULL-TIME) who, as you may know, has been on NRANews.com many times and always delivers a concise, entertaining report on CA legislation. Nobody does it better. So I tracked down Ed and got them together within the hour:

At this moment, I've just returned to my hotel room from the Members' Banquet (where the food was surprisingly good! No rubber chicken here.) Guest speaker was former US Ambassador John Bolton. What a fantastic dissertation about the UN and it's politics and the danger to gun-rights they represent. This is not the greatest picture, but please consider I had to steady my tiny digital camera on a chair back to get this from a great distance - way too far for flash:

Entertainment was NRA's own favorite "Bubba", T. Bubba Bechtol who has entertained at the last 6 banquets (And I've seen him every time :-):

What a SCREAM. He say "Bubba LaPierre" is doing a great job representing NRA. Bubba: "Sounds like a contradiction, doesn't it... Bubba LaPierre?" Bubba is a Life Member, BTW.

Looking forward to FINALLY getting into the vendors' exhibits tomorrow and the Board meeting on Monday.

If you've never been to one of these, you owe it to yourself to get to one. Next year's will be in Louisville KY. Believe me, you can never fully appreciate NRA without the experience. I'm proud of our Association and the job it is doing.

Hopefully, more later.

Mike

Party on Mike but get home as soon as ya can we seems to have OLL problems with uneducated cops lately and maybe the NRA can help educate the LEO's with their extensive network.

Good to hear your enjoying the convention.

Say Hi to Charlton Heston and Wayne for all of US back home.
