Can I use a 5.56/223 boresight for my 5.45 AR? I cant seem to find any boresights in that caliber.

what do u need a boresight for?? put the rifle on a stand, fire a shot, adjust the sights, fire again. rinse and repeat until your sights are aligned.

5.45 shoots to point of aim on all reticle lines with my ACOG, which is calibrated for 62gr 5.56 out of a carbine length barrel.

5.45 can vary from 52gr to 56gr bullet weight.

Its just easier for me to use a bore sight. I have a new red-dot, new EOtech, and new iron sights to zero.

LaserLyte makes one of the better/decent priced ones at around $50 for a kit that fits on the end of the muzzle with anything from .20 cal to .50 cal in size. Your problem is you were trying to find a bore sighter that fits in the chamber. Go the muzzle route and you are golden. I see them on eBay, Brownells, Amazon, MidwayUSA and elsewhere all the time.

Good luck,

I have cheap laserlyte muzzle boresighter I got from sportsman's guide for around 30 bucks. It's worked good in anything I've used it on so far.

WHen tested with previously zeroed weapons, it seems to be right on.

Actually it can vary from 50gr to 70gr. Don't forget there is both aging 5N7/7N6 milsurp and modern non-corrosive bi-metal and copper jacketed/lead core stuff from the likes of Tula, Uly, Hornady and others.

Don't boresighters go into the chamber? If so, then no, a 5.56 and 5.45 are completely different and one will not work for the other.
