Burro, Angeles, The desert. At the ranges, just be sure you have non magnetic ammo.

Another Calgunner let me know that you can shoot magnetic ammo (HXP) at the Winchester Canyon range up in Santa Barbara, but non-members shoot only on the weekends. Drop the wife off to shop on State Street while you go and shoot up at Winchester, would be a nice day.

Angeles is really good, but like said, make sure they are non magnetic, dont even try to sneak any ammo in

Lytle Creek and Angeles. Angeles is 10 minutes from the nearest freeway so not much mountain driving unlike Burro Cyn.

If in San Diego, I would recommend So. Bay Rod and Gun Club.

Whoops didn't see you were in Anaheim 'till after I posted. Anaheim to Santa Barbara is probably too far unless you want to stay overnight.

Burro Canyon and Pala in North San Diego County both have 600 yard ranges...

Lytle or Burro are not that far from Anaheim. Haven't shot much a Burro, Lytle can be busy on weekends. ROs are strict on saftey but not anal. The private range in Norco area would be close (Raaguanges????) something like that. Call Turners, they can give you info.

Wes Thompson's Rifle range in Piru is pretty good! Again, make sure you have non magnetic ammo and you are good to go!

I don't think Raahauge's is what you want. I think they are limited as to space. Lytle Creek (end of the road way out in the nat'l Forest, sierra ave exit off 15) has a line out to 300 yards, I believe. ROs are strict, as mentioned, which is a change from what they were (and if you remember the OLD LC "range", it's a heckuva lot better than that war zone). Fee was $19, gets you a lame frame and one set of targets. Frame self-destructs when you hit it with a rock, which you must do to sink it in the ground.

raahuages on weekdays is perfect for sighting in your rifle...weekends, forget it LOL

I didn't mention that Piru has a rifle range out to 900 yards as well. Pretty decent RO's and I believe the fee is $8 or $10.
