1/2" thick A36 mild steel @ 100 yards vs 300gr Scenar .338 Lapua Mag. The plate didn't stand a chance.

I shutter to think if it did that to steel what it would do to flesh...

This was a 1' square used for sighting-in. I have a 3' square I use at 1000+ yards. At 1000+ yards the 1/2" plate holds up well. I was just impressed how much authority it penetrated the plate.

Yep, AR500 won't even dent in that case. I've got hundreds of rounds of .338LM on mine from 100-2000 yards and you can hardly tell.

Holy crap, wonder what that would do to level IV armor.

How thick are you AR500 plates? 3/8" or 1/2"?

Hate to steal your thunder, but mild steel plate aint that tough. 1/2" mild steel plate doesn't even stand a chance against 308 Remington UMC FMJ. Pokes right through like a punch. I recall shooting some 1/2" MS plate with some SS109 & almost making it through as well.

We shot the same plate at the same distance with 155gr Hornady A-max 308 that day. The 308 left a nice crater and a bump on the back but did not penetrate.
