that is the question! my new ar10 has a 24" hvy ss bbl on it and i was considering fluting it....opinions please,and maybe recommendations on where in so cal to have done,,,maybe!:):facepalm:

I'm not trying to thread-jack. Just a quick question. What does fluting a barrel do better for your gun? Accuracy? Decrease weight?

There is a lot of debate over fluting. It reduces some weight and helps with cooling and that's what most can agree on. In terms of accuracy, some beg to differ that it does nothing. Rigidity is also affected and there are also both side to that. Others love the looks of it. I personally won't flute my barrel. If you want something light go with a pencil barrel

Looks good, decreases weight. That's all we KNOW. I think I'd rather buy 200 rounds of ammo though. Typically re-contouring or fluting the full length of the barrel is around $120.
