My barrel is 24" long SS and is target crowned. I want to have it threaded for a muzzle break. Where can I have this done? I live in SF and would be down to travel to a good shop. Would I need to remove the barrel or can it be done with it on the rifle?

Im an idiot, that link is about legality, not what kind of shop will thread the barrel.

I'm talking out my ___ here for sure/just postulating ;)

What if you got another (pre-threaded from the factory) barrel, swapped em and sold your current barrel to offset cost?

I wonder what the cost difference would be: shipping 2 ways + machining etc vs buying a new barrel (and even selling the existing barrel to offset). Or how much the machining/threading would change the engineering/dynamics of the barrel.

I can do it for you. I am in Aptos, 9 miles south of Santa Cruz on Hiway 1. What kind of rifle are you working on?

My 308 barrel threading die and TAT are on the way. They should be here within a week. PM if you can wait and I can do it to..

The rifle is already built. Here's a pic. So could threading it change the harmonics of the barrel?
