Hello-

My brother is in Russia right now. He bought an arsenal SG21, and I got a Centery arms Saiga convert in the last month. We were wondering about the legality of brining AK magazine parts kits back that we could modify to 10/30 mags. Anyone know of any laws limiting that?

Thanks

As long as you bring it back dissassembled you should be good. You might have to buy like some type of U.S. part for it to be compliant for 922R. Like a follower or something like that.

Importing military parts from Russia is prohibited.

My AK already uses a bulgarian Mag. so it would have to have enought parts without the magazine's parts. I think the same is true with the sg21. I know it has a lot of american made parts.

You can import non-ban military parts into the US for personal use. Importing for the sole purpose to resell is prohibited unless you have the proper permits/license.

K-Var has permits to import, that is why you see them selling russian AK parts on their website.

Why risk shutting down an airport terminal?! AK mags are plentiful here, even in banana clip 30-10 configuration!

............ :D

$30 each... that is why. I am not sure how much they are in Russia, but im sure it is less. We have some tapco mags, but more mags and ammo... You can never have enough.

My understanding is that in Russia, no one can own a rifle at all until they have owned a shotgun without incident for at least 5 years. That probably makes civilian AK ownership much more rare than here.

Also, 44mag.com has Bulgarian AK mags for $20 disassembled as rebuilds.

I don't know the laws on international import of mag kits from Russia, but my spider sense tells me it will cost you more in drama than whatever you are saving over a $20 rebuild kit you can already get here.

If in doubt, contact ATF regarding buying gun parts from overseas for personal use and not resale.
