Nicely done!!! I like it. I just sprayed my M1A scout stock with Duracoat last weekend. I'm looking forward to using it after it cures.

You did a great job with the details on that!!!!

Very very nice. What did you use to strip the original paint (if you did), and what paint did you repaint with? I'm thinking of doing my M1A stock soon.

What kind of paint did you use? I've been looking into painting a .308 AR (which I don't own yet :)) FDE. Any tips?

Btw, sweet gun you got there. I'm jealous.

The OP seems to have it nailed, so I'd love to hear what his thoughts are. I just did the polymer stock on my M1A last weekend using this:

http://www.houtsenterprises.net/dur_shakenspray.html

Went with OD green and it came out perfect. I did a lot of reading and the tips I got from others and learned myself was prep is key as is letting it cure for a month before using it. I wiped the stock off well with mineral spirits, let it dry completely, then used the degreaser supplied with the kit, wearing nitrile gloves the entire time. I hung mine on a string then used multiple, very light coats. Go slow and keep the sprayer moving and you'll wind up getting every nook and cranny without drips or runs. If you do make an error, just let it dry for 10 minutes or so, then gently 'sand' off the offending area and hit it again. I had one small drip that I banished using the scotch brite pad that came with the kit.

Begin using it before it cures and I understand that the finish may begin to flake off or fail in other ways. The instructions say let it cure for 2-3 weeks. I've heard a month is best, so that's what I'll do.

Wow!, mega positive feedback, THANK YOU!. I sanded the original coating on the stock with scotchbrite to rough it up, cleaned with acetone and used Brownells gun paint. Painted one color, cut out blue masking tape stripes on a flat surface with an x-acto, apply stripes, paint another color, more stripes and repeat till green was my last color. Many hours during lunch time at work. Fellow employees were spooked for sure ; )
