Hello, hope all is well with all. Logged into to Calguns to learn more about rifles.

My first purchase was a 870 Tactical, then a Benelli HK M1, accompanied by proper training. My next step is a 2012 Colt LE6940CA, which is Colt's new CA Compliant Version, if I can locate.

Is there any conventional wisdom that states purchasing a CA Compliant Rifle from a Manufacturer may be less troublesome than building your own AR that is CA Compliant? For example, if I was questioned at a range... My question is framed under the theory of following common sense, as outlined on this site.

Welcome. First off, why would you deal with Turners? Second, building your own AR is a lot more fun and a lot more rewarding than purchasing some cookie cutter model they have at the store. And third, what range would you go to that they would question you about the legality of your AR?

Turner's is close and I base service on the individual. I will also look at DD at Field Time Sports, based off my readings on DD here and I like the look.

I can work with cookie cutter for my first AR purchase.

"The Range" was just an example and it was related to my readings and I was referring to any Authority that may be at a range, not the range itself.

Welcome to Calguns. No gun store is perfect but I have gotten good service and great deals at the San Marcos Turners. They are also a Calguns sponsor, check out their section in the vendor's area for their weekly Calguns special.

Welcome

Check out riflegear. They have lots of info, pieces and parts, as well as complete rifles.

Not affiliated in any way. They have great customer service and have been honest about every question I have asked. Even when they didn't know the answer.

Welcome aboard.

Check out Riflegear in Fountain Valley and OC Armory in Lake Forest. They are both great places to go and have a great selection. The Orange Turners is also not too bad.
